Nice thought, but the problem with all relationship advice is that it assumes that both partners are always logical and reasonable. I know of no human capable of this. There are always going to be problems that cannot be solved because there are always times when we disregard our partner's feelings and wishes. "We can talk all you want, but I want that car. I am getting that car. I am going to the bar with my friends. I am buying that dress. I do NOT want the living room painted blue. ..."
So, yeah, don't try to solve the problems of the past, but at least take a look at them and see if there's a trend where you are sacrificing your soul by always having to yield to your partner's demands. If it's too much, then you have to get out of that relationship.
